At AL Community Development Corporation (ALCDC), we are confident in improving the quality of life for our community's under-resourced and under-served families and individuals. We believe every person deserves to live a healthy and fulfilling life, regardless of their circumstances. With our unwavering commitment to youth and education, holistic health and wellness, poverty, and the unhoused, we are dedicated to promoting positive life changes and spiritual growth. We focus on inspiring, encouraging, and empowering healthy LIFE for children, youth, adults, seniors, and families. Our programs cater to the basic human needs of individuals facing chronic poverty, hunger, the working poor, the elderly, parenting, youth, the unhoused (both sheltered and unsheltered), and the long and short-term needy. We provide ongoing classes, support, and guidance to help individuals overcome their struggles and achieve success.
Our team has 135+ years of experience dedicated to enriching the lives of needy individuals. Our staff and board members are education, business, healthcare, mental health, wellness, fitness, social work, and spiritual development experts. We are passionate about serving the greater Austin community and are proud to create an inclusive environment for children, youth, and families from diverse backgrounds. Our organization serves Austin, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Hutto, Manor, and Taylor - east rural Williamson County. We are deeply rooted in our community and partner with other organizations and churches to serve those in need.
Our mission is to help those facing low-income and aging populations survive, prevent homelessness, and provide physical, social, and economic support to the less fortunate. We are committed to finding long-term solutions to hunger, poverty, and under-employment in under-served and under-resourced communities.
Our Core Programs
Educational and physical programs for children, youth, parents, and families—to grow and thrive.
After-School Program reaching all-income families to indulge their children in STEAM-Education fields.
Holistic wellness promoting fair health equity in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities.
Housing Support Assistance services support unhoused populations, and BizNess Center assists with entrepreneur services and training, job search and assistance, and workforce development training.
Our nonprofit collaborates with other organizations to provide programs and services to over 21,000 people in Austin, Pflugerville, and the surrounding area, regardless of their background. Approximately 1 in 5 households in the Austin area are considered low-income. Travis and Williamson counties have a population where over half identify as people of color, and the percentage of the black population in Austin has decreased to 7.6% in 2017. However, surrounding suburbs like Pflugerville have seen an increase in the black and brown population to 17.1%. We support the BIPOC community in the area and believe everyone deserves equal opportunities, and we are working tirelessly to make this a reality. Efforts continue to ensure everyone has access to necessities and opportunities for economic stability.
